The OUSD(R&E) is pleased to announce technical assistance workshops as a part of a series of training and educational activities intended to provide program, process, and funding opportunity information to our minority-serving institutions.
The workshops will focus on both Department of Defense funding opportunities and best practices in writing effective technical proposals. Representatives from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Army, Navy, Air Force, and other Federal Agencies, along with successful Project Investigators from HBCU/MI, will present funding opportunity information along with provide insights on writing competitive proposals in response to
Broad Agency Announcements and other funding opportunities.
Workshop topics will include, but not limited to the following:
- Federal Legislation and important changes affecting HBCU/MI
- Broadening HBCU/MI research portfolios through collaboration
- Enhancing HBCU/MI competitiveness
- OSD/Department of Defense university-based research programs
- DoD HBCU/MI research and education program funding opportunity
- Doing business with DoD: pre and post award
- DoD services’ research offices and defense agencies HBCU/MI funding opportunities
- Strategies for HBCU/MI engagement: section 233 of the national defense authorization act
- HBCU/MI participants’ perspectives on outcomes of workshop and future activity
- Identifying and cultivating DoD funding opportunities
- Basic research interests and the construction of Broad Agency Announcements
- "Other" programs: Outreach, enrichment, STEM, and workforce development
- Strategies for effective proposal writing
- HBCU/MI best practices
- Managing the proposal writing process
- What reviewers/panels consider when evaluating grant proposals
